ZAGREB, April 30 (Hina) - A group of some 30 Croatian journalists on
Friday gathered for the second time in front of the Yugoslav Embassy
in Zagreb, demanding the release of Antun Masle, a reporter of the
"Globus" weekly, from a prison in Montenegro.
Masle has been in a prison in the Montenegrin capital of Podgorica
since April 20. The Yugoslav military authorities have charged him
with revealing military secrets in his articles on the NATO
operation in Yugoslavia.
No one at the embassy was willing to receive the president of the
Croatian Journalists' Association, Jagoda Vukusic. When she
demanded to talk with someone from the embassy, two embassy
officials asked her to leave the premises, adding she should take
with her a poster with Masle's picture she was holding.
Vukusic told the gathered that protests would be held every Friday
at noon until the Yugoslav authorities release Masle.
A representative of the Association of Montenegrins in Croatia,
Ranko Cetkovic, joined the protesters today. Representatives of
the Association will discuss Masle's case with the Montenegrin
Justice Minister in Podgorica on Tuesday, May 4, Cetkovic
announced.
The entrance to the embassy was guarded by a group of police
officers who calmly watched the protest, without forbidding the
journalists to throw posters and leaflets with the message "Set
Antun Masle Free" into the embassy's yard.
The protesters covered an official embassy vehicle with posters.
