CRO JOURNALISTS' ASSOCIATION CONDEMNS MURDER OF YU REPORTER

ZAGREB, Apr 13 (Hina) - The Croatian Journalists' Association (HND) on Tuesday condemned the recent murder of Belgrade independent journalist Slavko Curuvija, assessing it "the most horrible blow to independent reporting" in Serbia. Expressing solidarity with all journalists in danger, the HND called on the domestic and world public to "not forget those who for years experienced stifled civic and professional freedoms, and are now paying the price of Milosevic's regime with their lives." Curuvija, the owner of independent Belgrade-based daily "Dnevni Telegraf", was killed on Sunday in the hall of the building he lived in. Two unknown persons shot him in the back and head several times. The "Dnevni Telegraf" was banned and fined for criticising Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic and other government officials on several occasions since a strict media law
