Serbia asked the Serbian and Yugoslav governments to contribute to the end of the war with their constructive conduct. The Democratic Party issued a statement saying the killing of civilians in Surdulica from Tuesday's NATO strikes must be the final warning and lead to a cessation of conflicts and the start of negotiations. The president of the Democratic Centre, Dragoljub Micunovic, said the people should be asked "whether we all want to be killed". He told a news conference representatives of authority must immediately speak to the people and present their standpoints about the present crisis. NATO aircraft on Wednesday, at around 2pm, struck an oil refinery in
Novi Sad. They also hit a television transmitter on mount Fruska in
the northern province of Vojvodina, after which the airing of BK
Television was severed.
NATO forces also launched several rockets around Pristina
Wednesday morning, Radio Belgrade reported.
The same source said a transmission line was damaged during the
strikes, due to which Pristina now has difficulties in electric
power supply.
The air raid in Belgrade lasted from 1.25pm to 3.43pm, but no
detonations were heard in the city.
