Friday, all dailies which had not been published for two days due to
the action, reappeared at news-stands.

Trade unions of this biggest distribution company of the press in
Croatia began the strike on April 21 protesting against a failure to
carry out the Government's plan for the rehabilitation of the firm.
The plan was approved by the Government on April 1.
During the three-day action, unionists closed all 2,500 news-
stands of Tisak in entire Croatia and blocked by trucks the access
to the chief printing office in Zagreb in order to prevent the
distribution of newspapers on the market.
After the agreement reached in the Government on Friday evening,
five Croatian banks took over the task to rehabilitate the company
and signed an agreement on buying 90 percent of shares of Tisak.
Under the agreement, the banks which are now the owners of the
company will ensure about US$4 million for Tisak as well as the
guarantee of the Rovinj tobacco plant worth about US$2 million for
new deliveries of tobacco products.
This rehabilitation is to begin as of Monday. Tisak unionists also
received additional guarantees from Croatian President's Office
last night on the conduct of the rehabilitation plan.
The co-ordination of Tisak trade unions decided to freeze strike by
April 29 and in case promises have not been fulfilled by that time
they will go on with the strike.
