PECS PECS, April 23 (Hina) - In the southwestern Hungarian town of Pecs, where there are most important cultural and educational institutions of the Croatian minority, 160th anniversary of the reading room of the "Illyrian Youth
(Mladez Ilirska)" was celebrated on Thursday. The organisers - the Croatian Scientific Institute, the 'August Senoa' Croatian club and the 'Miroslav Krleza' Croatian primary school - have prepared several events such as the exhibition of the old and new issues published in Pecs and Budim. During the ceremony participants stressed the role of the reading room in spreading Croatian culture in 19th century. Present at Thursday's ceremony were also Croatia's consul-general in Pecs, Zvonimir Maric, and the president of the Croatian self-rule in Hungary, Mijo Kragic.(hina) jn ms
