SARAJEVO, April 5 (Hina) - Archbishop of Sarajevo, Cardinal Vinko
Puljic, on Monday held the Easter reception for politicians,
members of the diplomatic corps in the Bosnian capital, and other
religious dignitaries.
Greeting, in particular, the Islamic community's head, Reis-Ul-
Ulema Mustafa Ceric, Orthodox 'Dabrobosnian' Metropolitan Nikolaj
Mrdja and a representative of the Jewish community, David Kahmi,
Cardinal Puljic expressed wish that religious holidays could help
the restoration of confidence and contribute to the building of
peace in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
This Easter is being marked by placing emphasis on the wish for
peace and option for the culture of life and better prospects, he
added.
Being on the threshold of the third millennium, all of us are
expected to show care for the coming generations and we should not
leave a country marked by dissension, distrust, terrorism,
national intolerance and negation of others' identity as a legacy
for them.
A blind craving for the power, various political games and ambition
to realise narrow interests force an increasing number of young
people to pursue their future outside this country. Do we really
would like to make out of Bosnia a country of the old people and
hopelessness, the Cardinal wondered.
He called on those who are able to teach the youth to love their
homeland to do so.
The Bosnian Cardinal said each tear shed by those who are suffering
in areas neighbouring Bosnia, falls on cheeks of people who have
already suffered greatly but are now powerless to offer sufficient
help.
