SARAJEVO, April 16 (Hina) - International Mediator for Bosnia-
Herzegovina Christian Schwarz-Schilling on Friday expressed his
deep concern about the situation in the Federation of Bosnia-
Herzegovina and slow progress in establishing functional and
democratic authorities in this Bosnian Croat-Moslem entity.
Five years after the Federation was established, some diseases seem
to have become chronic in it, Schwarz-Schilling told a press
conference in Sarajevo on Friday.
Schwarz-Schilling harshly opposed to ideas of interior re-
organisation of that Bosnian entity, and assessed the idea as very
dangerous.
According to the German diplomat, the change in the organisation of
Bosnian Cantons or increasing its number would lead to a greater
ethnic division and would worsen already existing ruptures.
Those who believe that the Federation will start functioning after
Croats and Bosniaks completely separate are spreading a dangerous
illusion, Schwarz-Schilling said.
He stressed that politicians in Bosnia-Herzegovina have not got
much time, because the interest of the international community
would, within couple of months, be directed to Kosovo and
neighbouring countries, adding that Bosnia-Herzegovina would no
longer be able to count on help of the international community as so
far.
