ZAGREB, March 25 (Hina) - The security situation along the state border with Yugoslavia is stable and under the control of the Croatian border police, Assistant Interior Minister Josko Moric said on Thursday. The situation with public
order in the border areas is also stable. The Interior Ministry is carefully following the current developments and considering possible additional measures. As early as ten days ago, the Interior Ministry reinforced the system of control along the whole border with Yugoslavia. border with Yugoslavia is stable and under the control of the
Croatian border police, Assistant Interior Minister Josko Moric
said on Thursday.
The situation with public order in the border areas is also stable.
The Interior Ministry is carefully following the current
developments and considering possible additional measures.
As early as ten days ago, the Interior Ministry reinforced the
system of control along the whole border with Yugoslavia. On Friday
evening, Croatian border police were instructed to receive and help
in the evacuation of diplomatic staff accredited in Yugoslavia.
Prior to first air raids yesterday, the state border control
service and the security system around embassies and consulates in
Croatia, as well as in the hotels where ambassadors and diplomatic
staff from Yugoslavia have been accommodated, were intensified.
So far, ambassadors and staff from nine embassies in Yugoslavia,
with 145 persons and 79 vehicles, have been received by Croatia.
Around 10 am on Thursday, 22 vehicles with 49 UN employees arrived
from Trebinje (eastern Herzegovina) at the Ivanica check point in
Dubrovnik County. All UN members have been accommodated at the UN
base in Ploce.
Speaking about traffic on the border with Yugoslavia, Moric said it
was scarce during the last night and this morning, but in line with
visa requirements and a bilateral agreement on border traffic.
There have been no cases of illegal crossing of the state border,
Moric said cautioning Croatian citizens not to travel to
Yugoslavia.
