VERY TENSE IN NORTHERN ALBANIAN - RADIO TIRANA

TIRANA, April 16 (Hina) - Two Albanian civilians were wounded on Thursday when at least five shells, fired by Serbian forces, hit the north of Albania, the Radio Tirana reported on Friday. The five shells fell on the village of Korqa, about ten kilometres from the town of Kukes, at 05.45 pm Thursday, the radio said. Albanian police confirmed that the Serbian forces had opened fire at a few villages in northern Albania. According to Albanian sources, about ten thousand of ethnic Albanians in Pristina and its surroundings were forced to leave their homes. They are temporarily settled in the village of Vojnovce near Stimlje, 30 kilometres south of Pristina, and the humanitarian situation is very bad there. The Radio Tirana quoted the Kosovo Liberation Army's (KLA) news agency as saying that severe clashes had taken place in the area of Lap, northern Kosovo, on Thursday. Near Drenica, bodies of massacred children have been found. Furthermore, a mass grave with mostly children's and female corpses has been unearthed in the village of Rezale, also in the Drenica area, the Kosovapress agency reported. (hina) ms
