ZAGREB, April 14 (Hina) - The Open Society Croatia Institute will this year donate one third of its budget, namely US$1.1 million, as a part of the "Civil Society" programme which supports initiatives that stimulate the
self-organising of citizens, Institute representatives told a press conference in Zagreb on Wednesday. It was stressed at the conference the Institute would not promote political parties' projects in the year of elections, but would finance non-government associations and groups whose work programmes refer to the protection of human rights, initiatives in the community, equality between the sexes, work with minorities, work with persons with special needs, etc. The quality of the projects which will be financed by the Institute will be evaluated by an expert commission.(hina) it jn/ha
