SKOPLJE, April 8 (Hina) - Eight days ago, Serbian troops forcibly took over control of the residence of the Kosovo Albanian leader Ibrahim Rugova, Adnan Merovci, Rugova's closest associate and head of protocol, confirmed from Pristina
for Radio Free Europe on Thursday. In a statement, carried by Albanian-language dailies in Macedonia "Flaka" and "Fakti", Merovci said Rugova had exclusively authorised him for public contacts. According to Merovci, Rugova did not request that NATO bombardment of Serbian targets should stop, but that Serbian forces should withdraw from Kosovo, after which NATO bombardment would cease. This is the first public contact by an associate close to Rugova from Pristina.(hina) rml
