SARAJEVO, April 2 (Hina) - The international High Representative to
Bosnia-Herzegovina, Carlos Westendorp, decided to extend in the
coming three months the deadline for submitting requests for the
return of flats in the Croat-Moslem Federation, which had been
declared vacant or abandoned during the war.
On Friday the Office of the High Representative (OHR), Carlos
Westendorp, said that pre-war holders of tenancy rights could ask
for the return of the their flats until July 4 this year.
Using his authority under Dayton Accords Annex 10, Westendorp
prolonged the time period in which applications could be sent.
According to facts available to the OHR, about 75 percent pre-war
holders of the tenancy rights in the Croat-Moslem entity in Bosnia
have so far demanded the return of their flats which they left
during the war.
Problems in the procedure for submitting requests have been noticed
in cantons of Una-Sana, Zenica-Doboj, Gorazde and Herzegovina-
Neretva. This was additional reason for Westendorp's decision to
extend the time limit.
The decision applies for the Federation, whereas, in the Bosnian
Serb entity, requests could be served on relevant institutions
until 19 June this year.
The OHR reported that even this deadline could be extended in case
that the procedures for the return of flats to their pre-war
occupants have not been accelerated.
