KOSOVO DEMOCRATIC ALLIANCE CALLS FOR NATO INTERVENTION

PRISTINA, March 20 (Hina) - The largest Kosovo Albanian party - the Kosovo Democratic Alliance (DSK) - on Saturday issued a special statement condemning the latest offensive of Serbian forces on Albanian villages and calling for an urgent intervention of the international community and NATO. According to the statement, Serbian forces today started an extensive attack on the municipalities of Podujevo, Glogovac, Klina, Srbica, Kosovska Mitrovica, Vucitrn and villages near the province's capital of Pristina. The attacks are followed by the burning down and plundering of villages by the infantry, and Albanian residents are leaving their homes. This is the most serious threat of disaster since the beginning of extensive Serbian attacks on the province last year, the statement said. Kosovo villages and towns are today experiencing the strongest attacks of the Serbian war machinery, the DSK statement read. At the end of the statement, the DSK calls on NATO, the United States, Contact group members, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe and all other relevant international factors to immediately do everything in their power to protect the Kosovo Albanian people.
