FATHER AND SON ARRESTED FOR HIDING GREAT AMOUNT OF ARMS IN FLAT

VINKOVCI, March 3 (Hina) - Police officers with a court injunction combed the flat owned by Ilija C., aged 43, in Vukovar on Tuesday, and found a great quantity of arms. Police told Wednesday's press conference that Croatian Serb, Ilija C., had hidden in his flat 17 hand-held rocket launchers (called "zolja"), 15 booby-traps, 4 kilograms of plastic explosive, 100 pieces of detonation caps, seven kilograms of other kinds of different explosive, 26 hand-held rocket launchers, ten electro-detonation caps, five automatic rifles, three light machine-guns and other arms and ammunition. The weaponry was impounded. The head of the crime department of the Vukovar-Sirmium Police, Tomislav Iljic, said the police had been keeping Ilija C. under constant surveillance for some time. The police officer Iljic excluded a possibility that this could a smuggling chain. Charges will be preferred against Ilija and his son Zoran, aged 21. The apprehended father and son will be taken to the investigation department of the County Court in Vukovar. Besides them, Vlado S., an employee in the Dalj police station, has been also arrested for his complicity in the criminal act, the police officer Iljic said.
