SARAJEVO, Feb 25 (Hina) - The NATO-led Stabilisation Force (SFOR)
in Bosnia-Herzegovina seized two trucks loaded with arms and
ammunition near Brcko, north-eastern Bosnia, on Thursday morning.
An SFOR spokesman said in Sarajevo that lorries were discovered
during a routine check-up of facilities of local infantry and air
base forces.
The spokesman David Scanlon could not say precisely whom the
impounded weaponry belonged to. He added that an investigation into
the case was under way to establish all details.
The confiscated arms and ammunition included 134 tank shells, six
anti-tank systems dubbed "Red Arrow", 18 anti-aircraft rockets of
the SA-7 type and three multiple-rocket launchers.
A part of the municipality of Brcko is within the Croat-Moslem
Federation, while the town of Brcko on the right bank of the Sava
river is under the Bosnian Serb control.
Prior to the war, 80 percent of Brcko citizens were non-Serbs, but
with the onset of the bloodshed in this country, Serb ethnically
cleansed Brcko because of its strategic importance.
The Dayton Accords did not solve this problem, but the task has been
entrusted with the Arbitration Commission that is being in sitting
in Vienna at the moment.
