ZAGREB, Jan 30 (Hina) - A Vice President of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party, Nikica Valentic, announced on Saturday that parliamentary elections in Croatia would be organised in the last quarter of 1999. At a
convention held by the HDZ of Zagreb County in the Croatian capital on Saturday, Valentic announced that his party would begin the election campaign as of March 1 this year. According to Valentic, the HDZ main committee will convene a meeting for February 27 to define the pre-election programme of the party and officially announce the beginning of the election campaign. Valentic viewed the forthcoming elections as crucial for the economic stability of Croatia and for the future of the country.
