ZAGREB, Jan 25 (Hina) - The Judiciary, Elections, and Appointments Committee of the Croatian parliament's House of Counties on Monday suggested that current Supreme Court president Milan Vukovic be appointed as a Constitutional Court
judge. Vukovic put his function as Supreme Court president on disposal on January 23. According to the Croatian Constitution, the Constitutional Court should be composed of 11 judges; the current number is ten. The judges, proposed by the parliament's House of Counties, are elected by the House of Representatives. Were the Judiciary, Elections, and Appointments Committee's proposal endorsed by the Upper House, the decision would be forwarded for adoption to the Lower House. Vukovic acted as Constitutional Court judge between May 3, 1995 and February 25, 1997. He moved to the president's function in the Supreme Court in early 1997.(hina) ha jn
