ZAGREB, Jan 29 (Hina) - Representatives of several parties on Friday commented on the resignations of Miroslav Separovic and the latest appointments made by the Croatian President. Separovic resigned to his duties as head of the
Croatian Intelligence Service, deputy head of the Croatian President's Office for National Security, and to all party duties in the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ). HDZ's Vladimir Seks said the decisions were in President Tudjman's competence and he had assessed they should be made. "I therefore think it's not necessary to comment on them," he said. Neither HDZ's Ivic Pasalic wished to comment on Separovic's resignations. He said he first heard about them on the radio today. "It's too early to comment," Pasalic said. Antun Vujic of the Social Democratic Party said he was appalled by Separovic's resignation and dissatisfied "with the solution coming to replace him."
ZAGREB, Jan 29 (Hina) - Representatives of several parties on
Friday commented on the resignations of Miroslav Separovic and the
latest appointments made by the Croatian President.
Separovic resigned to his duties as head of the Croatian
Intelligence Service, deputy head of the Croatian President's
Office for National Security, and to all party duties in the ruling
Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
HDZ's Vladimir Seks said the decisions were in President Tudjman's
competence and he had assessed they should be made.
"I therefore think it's not necessary to comment on them," he said.
Neither HDZ's Ivic Pasalic wished to comment on Separovic's
resignations. He said he first heard about them on the radio today.
"It's too early to comment," Pasalic said.
Antun Vujic of the Social Democratic Party said he was appalled by
Separovic's resignation and dissatisfied "with the solution coming
to replace him."
He assessed the warnings of the group of six opposition parties
about abuse in the work of intelligence services "had sense."
Bozo Kovacevic of the Liberal Party assumes "Separovic's
resignation is connected with the phone-tapping affair written
about in 'Nacional' weekly."
"In my opinion it is a showdown within intelligence services," he
told reporters.
Djurdja Adlesic of the Croatian Social Liberal Party believes "that
many who don't want to participate in the work of intelligence
services as has been done to date will start leaving."
Anto Djapic of the Croatian Party of Rights said, "this is a loss for
the entire state authority."
Damir Kajin of the Istrian Democratic Assembly assessed
Separovic's resignation was a moral act.
