ZAGREB, Jan 22 (Hina) - The ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) is ready to continue negotiations with representatives of six opposition parties, HDZ spokesman Ivica Ropus said on Friday. Ropus said delicate issues, such as the

ZAGREB, Jan 22 (Hina) - The ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ)
is ready to continue negotiations with representatives of six
opposition parties, HDZ spokesman Ivica Ropus said on Friday.
Ropus said delicate issues, such as the work of intelligence
services, should be discussed, in order to overcome differences in
approaching how and in what forms the services should perform.
MPs of six opposition parties last year resigned to all
parliamentary duties, excluding duties in the House of
Representatives, after their motion to establish a commission of
inquiry to investigate allegations about the misuse of
intelligence services for internal policy purposes was turned
down.
The resignations also refer to participation in a Croatian
parliament delegation at the Council of Europe's Parliamentary
Assembly.
Ropus expressed hope that the six opposition parties would change
their mind regarding their activities in the Council of Europe's
Parliamentary Assembly.
He welcomed the decision of three opposition parties (the Croatian
Social Liberal Party, the Croatian Peasants' Party, and the Social
Democratic Party) to participate in a monitoring committee of the
Council's Parliamentary Assembly.
If the six opposition parties' representatives abide by their
resignations in parliament bodies, they could be substituted by
other representatives, Ropus said, adding ultimatums led to
nothing.
