ZAGREB, Jan 26 (Hina) - Croatian Justice Minister Milan Ramljak on Tuesday said he was perplexed by the fact that the ruling Croatian Democratic Union's (HDZ) spokesman had announced changes in the judiciary at a recent party press
conference. When asked if HDZ's spokesman Ivica Ropus was authorised to announce appointments of judges, which puzzled many, Ramljak said he was puzzled himself. Ramljak directed reporters to the State Judicial Council, when asked whether he had any information on possible candidates for the new Supreme Court president or State Attorney. The Justice Minister said he could not comment on objections by several representatives of the House of Counties, who claimed the Upper House could not discuss the appointment of Milan Vukovic as a Constitutional Court judge until he was relieved of his duties as the Supreme Court president.
