ZAGREB, Jan 21 (Hina) - Croatian Interior Minister Ivan Penic on Thursday handed to Culture Minister Bozo Biskupic six paintings of Ivan Mestrovic, which had been looted from the Drnis History Museum (southern Croatia) on September 8,
1991. During a Croatian police action, four paintings were returned from Belgrade, whereas another two paintings were found in a house near Drnis, Penic said. After the police discovered a plan for hiding the stolen paintings, they raided the house and discovered paintings cemented in the garage. Thanking to Minister Penic, Culture Minister said the paintings would be first sent to the Restoration and Conservation Institute, although they had been preserved well, and later they would be returned to the Drnis Museum.(hina) ms
