BOSNIAN FEDERATION PRESIDENT VISITS STOLAC AND DISPLACED CROATS

MOSTAR, Jan 20 (Hina) - The President of the Bosnia-Herzegovina (BH) Federation, Ivo Andric Luzinski, on Wednesday visited the southern BH town of Stolac and a refugee camp near Capljina with over 400 displaced Croats from central Bosnia. Luzinski said he would advocate the lifting of "unfair sanctions", for he believed it would improve life standard of local residents, and more than 3,000 displaced Croats from central Bosnia, temporary accommodated in the Stolac municipality. The President said he did not hold talks with the Stolac municipality officials on the arrest of the owner of the Renner company from Stolac and several other suspects of smuggling, for the visit had been scheduled before the arrest, which took place on Monday. Luzinski said he was disappointed with difficult living conditions in the refugee camp, and added he had not seen such conditions anywhere in the Federation. H

Luzinski said he was disappointed with difficult living conditions in the refugee camp, and added he had not seen such conditions anywhere in the Federation. He also criticised the failure of the international community to provide help to displaced Croats. Luzinski said he was informed that the NATO Stabilisation Force (SFOR) threatened to displace people from the camp even to third countries. Permanent peace in BH was impossible to accomplish with the eviction of Croats, Luzinski asserted. He is to visit Bugojno, central BH, on Thursday to examine possibilities for the "sustained return" of Croats to the municipality. (hina) it
