ZAGREB, Jan 11 (Hina)- Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Assembly of
the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE),
Helle Degn, held talks Tuesday with Croatian officials about the
situation in Croatian media and the new electoral law.
During her first day in Croatia, Degn spoke with members of the
Croatian delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Zdravko
Tomac and Zlatko Kramaric, head of the Croatian Parliament
delegation, Ivan Milas, chairwoman of the Parliament's Foreign
Affairs Committee, Zdravka Busic, a Committee member Bozo
Kovacevic, and vice-president of the Croatian National Sabor
(parliament), Jadranka Kosor.
"The Croatian people wish to be a part of European institutions and
associations, and we are aware that it depends on us when we will
accomplish that," Tomac said after the meeting.
He added that the OSCE delegation was interested in the
Opposition's view of European associations, the problems of return
of refugees and displaced persons, the electoral law and media in
Croatia.
"Degn said at the end of our talks that it was their wish that
Croatia should become a part of European integration as soon as
possible," Tomac said.
"The delegation of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is on an
informative visit to Croatia and this is one in a line of visits to
OSCE member-countries," Milas said.
During their three-day stay in Croatia, the OSCE representatives
will become acquainted with the work of the OSCE Mission, the
reciprocal return of refugees and displaced persons and the
protection of their rights.
