DARDA, Dec 22 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic met members of the eastern Croatian 'Belje' food company's management as part of his visit to Osijek-Baranja County on Friday. After the closed-door meeting, Mesic told reporters
the company's problems were systematic and some of them dated back to the period of war and peaceful reintegration, which was why the company "lacks funds necessary for restarting production." "We have discussed the need for banks to provide funds needed for production because Croatia can go forward only if it has production," Mesic said. During the ownership transformation and privatisation of the company, which is currently state-owned, one should take care that capital goes to those who have made it, Mesic concluded.(hina) rml
