ZAGREB, Dec 22 (Hina) - Croatia's public services' union leaders on Friday handed Christmas presents to Prime Minister Ivica Racan and his ministers as a sign of 'gratitude' for their being denied Christmas bonuses and child
allowances this year. The leaders of science, education, health and social care workers' unions welcomed government members in front of the government building and handed them Christmas bags containing turkey meat, traditional 'mlinci' noodles and candy. "We have decided to give the Premier and other ministers presents because, according to them, we are privileged in relation to other workers," one of the union leaders said explaining the unusual union move. The premier and minister did not mind the unionists' irony but accepted the gifts and thanked for them. "I will give this to those who need it more," Racan told the unionists when handed a Christmas bag.(hina) rml
