MOSTAR, Dec 1 (Hina) - American Ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina
Thomas Miller on Friday neither dismissed nor confirmed his
personal involvement in the creation of a post-electoral coalition
headed by the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Miller held talks Friday with Mostar's town leaders Safet Orucevic
and Neven Tomic about the implementation of the recent elections
held in Bosnia-Herzegovina. He also informed reporters about his
meeting with the leaders of the Social Democratic Party, Party for
Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Party of Democratic Progress, for which
political circles presume would become coalition partners at a
state level as long as Miller was mediator.
We are all interested in a coalition as a result of elections within
the next several weeks. This is what I will spend most time on in the
near future, Miller said.
The establishment of a coalition would, however, take some time,
Miller said, adding there were different possibilities, refusing
to explain possible political differences among the parties in
question.
Commenting on his role in the creation of the coalition, Ambassador
Miller said Bosnia-Herzegovina had capable politicians who know
how to establish a coalition in the country, adding he would be of
assistance.
Miller denounced the holding of, as he said, a totally illegal and
utterly provocative referendum of Bosnian Croats (held on the day
of general elections in Bosnia-Herzegovina), dismissing the
possibility of any one party representing an entire people.
The only nation that we know of here is Bosnia-Herzegovina, he
stressed, adding much surprise and turnarounds could be expected.
Miller expressed understanding for the slow political changes in
Bosnia-Herzegovina as opposed to Croatia and Yugoslavia, which he
described as dramatic.
The recently held elections in Bosnia-Herzegovina, nor a possible
change in the American leadership, will not influence the United
State's policy towards Bosnia-Herzegovina, he asserted.
