RIJEKA RIJEKA, Nov 24 (Hina) - A two-week stay, which has so far been the longest visit of US ships to a Croatian port, finished on Friday when the USS Saipan ship, the flagship of the amphibious group in the US Sixth Fleet, sailed
out of the biggest Croatian seaport of Rijeka this morning. Another three vessels of the US navy left Rijeka yesterday. Over 5,000 officers and sailors and marines on board those ships, together with Croatian Armed Forces troops, carried out a manoeuvre at the military range in Slunj (some 50 kilometres south of Zagreb). Commander of US MEU troops, Lieutenant Kennneth Gueck, described the joint exercise as very successful. This was the first time for the entire Amphibious Group to visit Croatia.(hina) jn ms
