ZAGREB, Nov 21 (Hina) - Croatian Public Works, Reconstruction and Construction Minister Radimir Cacic said Tuesday all works of highways in connection with capital investments would as of next April be taken over by a new company
owned by the state. The most important novelty is that funds for the construction of roads will no longer be set aside from the government budget. The tasks of the future company Croatian Roads, and its relations with the state will be defined at the next Government session. Cacic said the highway from the north Adriatic port of Rijeka to Zagreb was in the phase of a completed public bidding for concession for further works. The Government will also decide on the construction of the Zagreb - Macelj (Slovene border) road. Speaking about development programmes of his Ministry, Cacic
mentioned the road from the west Croatian border with Slovenia
until its east border (with Yugoslavia) -- Bregana - Lipovac, which
could be given up for concession to 20 to 30 years and which is worth
about a billion dollars.
