VUKOVAR VUKOVAR, Nov 15 (Hina) - Vukovar-Srijem County prefect Petar Cobankovic received a representative of the European Council on Refugees and Exiles, Nick Scott-Flyn, in the eastern Croatian town of Vukovar on Wednesday.
Scott-Flyn was accompanied by the head of Vukovar's office of the Croatian Helsinki Committee, Sasa Lalic. Scott-Flyn expressed interest in the problems of return encountered both by the state and local institutions of authority and returnees. The European Council on Refugees and Exiles is an umbrella organisation which gathers about 70 non-governmental organisations across Europe. Cobankovic said the biggest problem regarding the return was the difficult economic situation. The head of Vukovar's Regional Office for Refugees and Displaced Persons, Ante Drmic, said over 28,000 displaced persons have returned to the region so far, which accounts for 54 percent of people who had to flee their home
