RIJEKA, Oct 27 (Hina) - Two new witnesses for the prosecution testified at the Rijeka County Court on Friday in the trial of Tihomir Oreskovic and four other Gospic residents accused of a 1991 war crime against Croatian Serb civilians
in the central town. The defence told reporters neither testimony charged the accused, but actually contradicted the testimonies of two witnesses examined earlier in the trial. The two previous witness testimonies indirectly charged the five suspects, whereas today's testimonies refuted those accusations to a certain degree, said attorney Zeljko Dumancic, adding this was very significant for the defence. The hearing resumes next week. The defence assumes another protected witness will be examined, but that he will refuse the treatment and testify under his real name. Oreskovic and the four other Gospic residents were arrested last month.(hina) ha
