FORMER KARLOBAG POLICE COMMANDER QUESTIONED IN ORESKOVIC CASE

RIJEKA, Oct 10 (Hina) - A police officer, Jure Pavlovic, a prosecution witness in the investigative procedure in the case of Tihomir Oreskovic and other four Gospic men, accused of war crimes against local Serbs in 1991, on Tuesday gave his testimony before an investigating judge, in Rijeka. Pavlovic, a former police superintendent in the coastal town of Karlobag, told reporters that he had presented "some relevant facts in relation to the disappearance of three Serb citizens in Karlobag in the end of November 1991." The judge Sajonara Culina should have interviewed Pavlovic last week, but the interrogation was postponed for today. The suspects' defence lawyers said Pavlovic's testimony had indirectly incriminated their defendants, and assessed that his statement was contradictory to the testimony given by the key witness of the prosecution, policeman Mirko Kasumovic.
