ZAGREB, Oct 27 (Hina) - The Croatian Union of Police Employees fully
supports the new bill on police because it regulates the status of
police employees in a satisfactory manner.
The union is satisfied with the bill because it includes union
suggestions and regulates issues such as strike, holidays and
police officers wounded in the line of duty, union leader Dubravko
Jagic told reporters on Friday.
The union also supports the proposed reduction of benefits for some
clerical positions, because the bill regulates that only police

The Union commissioner for Istria, Edgar Franjul, said union
representatives would be part of an Interior Ministry's commission
in charge of drawing up sub-legal regulations which must be adopted
within six months from the proclamation of the new law.
Franjul believes the bill does not give too great powers to the
interior minister, whereas the current law enables the minister to
adopt sub-legal regulations to each article of the law.
