ZAGREB, Aug 24 (Hina) - Croatia's Government on Thursday forwarded several acts into a parliamentary procedure. One of acts which will be considered in the urgent parliamentary procedure is on the ratification of a protocol on
Croatia's admission to the World Trade Organisation (WTO). The protocol was signed in Geneva on 17 July. The Croatian National Parliament should discuss and ratify the document at its first autumn session, set for the end of September. During Thursday's session, Finance Minister Mato Crkvenac cautioned that financial means for the enforcement of a new child allowance act had not been ensured in the budget. The new act provides for the broadening of the list of those entitled to the child's allowance as of 1 October and some 165 million kuna should be earmarked this year for this purpose. several acts into a parliamentary procedure. One of acts which will
be considered in the urgent parliamentary procedure is on the
ratification of a protocol on Croatia's admission to the World
Trade Organisation (WTO).
The protocol was signed in Geneva on 17 July. The Croatian National
Parliament should discuss and ratify the document at its first
autumn session, set for the end of September.
During Thursday's session, Finance Minister Mato Crkvenac
cautioned that financial means for the enforcement of a new child
allowance act had not been ensured in the budget. The new act
provides for the broadening of the list of those entitled to the
child's allowance as of 1 October and some 165 million kuna should
be earmarked this year for this purpose.
The Government ordered a Deputy Prime Minister Slavko Linic to co-
ordinate the activities of relevant ministries so that this issue
be solved and funds can be raised. He is expected to submit to the
Government a proposal for the solution of this problem in two
weeks.
The Government endorsed a report on contracts between the Croatian
Power Industry (HEP) and Enron Europe Ltd.
The Government decided to instigate the procedure of liquidation of
the Croatian Information and Cultural Institute (HIKZ).
Means will be taken from liquid deposits of the state budget to
settle claims of the U.S. firm Patton Boggs LLP, which was chosen to
lobby in favour of the Republic of Croatia in the United States.
The Government decided, as part of its austerity measures, to close
the Consulate General in Maribor, Slovenia and it will set up a
honorary consulate in that Slovene city, read a statement released
by the Government's public relations office.
