ZAGREB, Aug 19 (Hina) - A wildfire which broke out near Drnis, southern Croatia, around 2.30 p.m. on Friday has burned 300 hectares of dry grass, undergrowth, oak and pine wood, the State Information Centre said on Saturday. The fire
has not been put under control yet. Seventy fire-fighters guarded the area overnight. All available forces had been sent to the area yesterday. Some 100 fire-fighters with 18 vehicles, 50 members of the Croatian army, and two canadair aircraft tried to extinguish the fire. New forces will attempt to extinguish the blaze today, aided by two canadair aircraft and a fire-fighting helicopter. A wildfire in Dubrovnik-Neretva County, southern-most Croatia, which had started in neighbouring Bosnia-Herzegovina on August 15 and caught Croatian territory the day after, was extinguished at 8 p.m. yesterday.
