ZAGREB, Aug 17 (Hina) - The fire which broke out near Bogomolje on the island of Hvar has still not been extinguished, but is being held under control. The fire-fighters continued to battle the flames Thursday morning awaiting for
assistance from the Croatian Navy. The fire on the west slopes of Kozjak (around Split) has been extinguished Thursday morning. Some 100 hectares have burned. A fire which broke out in the Kastel hinterland around 2pm Wednesday was put out three hours later. Some 8 hectares of grass was scorched. Around 11am Wednesday a fire broke out near the town of Sveti Kirin-Vodnjan on the Istrian peninsula. Some 100 hectares of grass, bushes and forest were engulfed by the flames. The fire was put under control in the evening hours. A fire which broke out deep inside the Herzegovina region on August 15 and spread over to Croatia near Konavle has still not been extinguished.
