SPLIT REQUIRES NEW ENGINE SPLIT, Aug 17 (Hina) - The engine trouble on a French "mirage" military aircraft, which made a forced landing in the southern Croatian port of Split on Wednesday, is quite serious, experts of the French Air Force said on Thursday after making a thorough inspection of the aircraft. A new engine has been ordered. The "mirage" will leave the Split airport only after the new engine is installed and if experts establish that everything is in order. The French combat aircraft landed on Split's Resnik airport at 10.45 a.m. yesterday after its electronic signals indicated a fire on one of the engines. After the emergency landing it was established there was no fire on the engines. Reporters inquired what French combat aircraft, two armed planes, were doing in Croatia's air space, the Croatian Defence Ministry's Information Department said the Croatian government in 1995 signed an agreement with NATO giving NATO permission to
