ZAGREB, July 10 (Hina) - There is no need at the moment to replace
any government member and the results of a critical analysis of the
government's performance, to be carried out this autumn, will be
announced then, Prime Minister Ivica Racan told Croatian Radio on
Monday, commenting on media speculation about a government
reshuffle.
The media have been speculating about the replacement of Deputy
Prime Minister Zeljka Antunovic, Ministers Alojz Tusek and Goranko
Fizulic, First Deputy Prime Minister Goran Granic and Veterans'
Minister Ivica Pancic.
Racan said he was satisfied with the members of his cabinet and
trusted his deputy prime ministers as well as people who had
undertaken to go public with bad news as well. Racan supported the
work of Veterans' Minister Ivica Pancic and the Minister of
Environmental Protection and Zoning Bozo Kovacevic.
He confirmed that Zeljko Rohatinski would be suggested to the
parliament as a candidate for the post of Croatian National Bank
governor.
I insisted that (the candidate for this post) be an expert of high
rating, a person respected in international financial
institutions, Racan said. Rohatinski, he added, is not a member of
any party and has been nominated after consultations between
members of the ruling coalition.
