ZAGREB, June 27 (Hina) - The Trade Union of Croatian Journalists (SNH) on Tuesday forwarded a letter to Croatian Prime Minister Ivica Racan demanding an urgent meeting due to a difficult situation in media owned or co-owned by the
state, in order that the Government, which is the greatest media employer, provides answers to a series of undeferrable questions. The SNH said in its letter that greatest and oldest media houses in Croatia were facing difficulties and that not only the existence of thousands of journalists and other media employees was jeopardised, but also the role of media in the democratisation of the society. In case the Government fails to vote its opinion on the issues, the SNH will be forced to use other means, including a legitimate trade union struggle, the letter read.(hina) it jn
