Monday's session, the HND executive board concluded that Croatian reporters would in no way take part in the implementation of the law that is contrary to the basic right of the public to be informed about everything which is in its interest and that is contrary to the Constitution, the media law and professional norms. In addition, stands of the commission are non-biding, the HND said in a statement today. Since the adoption of the law in 1996, the HND has pointed to its restrictive nature and a possibility that in accordance with such a law those in power can proclaim anything in some moments as a state secret. During Monday's session, the HND executive board concluded that
Croatian reporters would in no way take part in the implementation
of the law that is contrary to the basic right of the public to be

Instead of debates on the composition of this commission, the
society has proposed to the national parliament to initiate a
process of drafting a new law on secrets in which the HND will offer
