ZAGREB, July 4 (Hina) - The Croatian Helsinki Committee for human rights protection (HHO) on Tuesday strongly protested against "immorally high pensions" which will be granted to former members of parliament, in compliance with the
law on deputies' rights and obligations the Sabor adopted in May. The HHO forwarded the harsh protest to the Government and the national parliament and asked them to regulate the matter in more appropriate manner. "The adoption of the law on rights and duties of members of parliament, particularly a segment on granting immorally high pensions to former Sabor deputies causes suspicion and outrage," read a statement issued by the HHO on Tuesday. Besides numerous benefits and perks they enjoyed while they were members of the Sabor, they would also be awarded with privileged rights through the cut in the necessary number of working years for pension.
