ZAGREB, July 3 (Hina) - A meeting Croatia's Economy Minister
Goranko Fizulic was to hold on Monday with a trade union delegation
of metal-working company Jedinstvo was postponed for tomorrow,
Josip Bardic, a representative of the Trade Union of Metal Workers
of Croatia (SMH), told Hina today.
He voiced dissatisfaction with the postponement, saying the
government was avoiding social dialogue.
The meeting was to tackle the payment of back salaries, an audit of
Jedinstvo's privatisation, and the future of the company which
exports most of its product.
Today's meeting had been agreed with Minister Fizulic on Friday,
when Jedinstvo's workers were protesting in front of the government
building.
SMH believes the government is buying time by avoiding social
dialogue. The trade union said it would not stand this much longer,
announcing the possibility of withdrawing in the autumn from the
Agreement for Just Croatia, signed before January's parliamentary
elections with the six parties making the incumbent ruling
coalition.
