ZAGREB, June 5 (Hina) - After he recently received delegations of
the ruling six-party coalition, Croatian President Stjepan Mesic
on Monday held talks with representatives of opposition
parliamentary parties: HDZ, DC and HSP.
They considered current political issues such as proposals for
constitutional changes and procedures in the take-over of state
offices.
The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) leader, Ivo Sanader, announced
that during tomorrow's session of the party's presidency, the HDZ
would establish its own commission for drafting constitutional
changes.
According to unofficial information, the HDZ delegation talked
with President Mesic about transcripts which "are coming" out of
the President Mesic's office and that they had agreed on regulating
the matter in detail.
The Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) leader, Anto Djapic, said he had
warned President Mesic that the recently-adopted Reconstruction
Law equalised the rights of those who had destroyed Croatia and
those who had defended it. Djapic is sceptical about the
President's statement that the international community is
intending to offer stronger support to the general return.
The Democratic Centre (DC) leader Mate Granic said they had
submitted to Mesic an initiative for the adoption of a law on the
state services which may clearly define what ensues after the
changes in authorities.
We also proposed that President Mesic set up a multiparty and multi-
ethnic working group, the task of which will be to help build
confidence in the areas of the special state concern, Granic
added.
