ZAGREB, June 2 (Hina) - The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Office in Zagreb on Friday welcomed the fact that the Croatian parliament's House of Representatives had adopted an amended reconstruction law. The UNHCR says
in a statement the adoption of the law is a positive step towards the completion of a legal framework for the return of exiled persons and refugees, and a confirmation of the government's willingness to indiscriminately assume complete responsibility for its citizens. The amended reconstruction law covers houses and other property damaged or demolished through 15 January 1998, with no territorial limitations. The statement says the UNHCR will not only assist the reconstruction of houses and infrastructure, but further assist Croatia's government in finding a permanent solution for every group in need of assistance.(hina) ha mm
