LJUBLJANA, June 3 (Hina) - The largest Slovene brewery 'Pivovarna Lasko' will buy the Split Brewery in order to strengthen its business positions in Croatia. "The contract on the purchase will almost certainly be signed in two weeks,"
the company's director Tone Turnsek told in an interview with the Slovene paper 'Delo'. The company, which also intends to cover the markets in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Yugoslavia from Split, will be backed with long-term loans by the Ljubljanska Bank. Turnsek said intensive talks were being held with the owners of the Split Brewery and representatives of the Croatian Pension Fund and the Fund for the Restitution of Confiscated Property. 'Pivovarna Lasko' will in Split keep the production under licence of the German 'Kaltenberg' beer, whereas the sale of the company's own beers will depend on customs duties in Croatia.
