ZAGREB, May 26 (Hina) - The Croatian Unions' Association (HUS) said
Prime Minister Ivica Racan's claim that the Government should call
on tax payers to strike against those irrationally spending budget
money in state companies as utterly cynical.
Racan said this during a discussion on the situation in Croatian
shipyards. Government members criticised state company management
saying unions were also acting in collaboration with the
management.
The HUS recalled that six months ago Prime Minister Racan, as well
as the leaders of the then six opposition parties, had initiated and
actively participated in union activities.
Bankruptcies which the Government advocates, are the easy route,
because it is easier to destroy a company than make it successful,
the HUS said in an open letter.
The HUS also reacted to the Government's bill on labour time for
retail stores, stressing it was "legalising slavery relations of
the employer towards the employed, and stimulated their
exploration".
