Alan d.o.o.' at a session on May 25 accepted a proposal regarding
the replacement of the company's director Vladimir Zagorec and
appointed Antun Persin new director, the Defence Ministry said in a
statement on Thursday.
In line with a decision adopted by the Croatian Government on May
18, the new management will, in cooperation with the ministries of
economy and defence, propose and carry out a plan of liquidation of
the company and suggest to the Government to establish an agency for
equipment for special purposes, the statement said.
The RH Alan assembly consists of Defence Minister Jozo Rados (the
assembly's president), Finance Minister Mato Crkvenac, and
Interior Minister Sime Lucin.
A recent parliamentary debate on a State Audit report on the
operation of RH Alan in the period between 1997 and 1999 pointed to a
series of irregularities and illegal activities in the company,
which was registered as a company for the production of equipment
for special purposes.
According to the State Audit report, the company was involved in
many activities for which it was not authorised, such as the
purchase of a 'challenger' plane, which was used by the former
Croatian president Franjo Tudjman, and the payment of fees for
attorneys defending Croats on trial at the Hague war crimes
tribunal.
