According to a statement issued by police on Sunday, 118 persons
were reported to be guilty of disorderly conduct in Vukovar prior to
the soccer match. In addition, 20 men were involved in the attack
against policemen.
A riot flared up in the town's central market. Rioters smashed
nearby shop-windows and damaged cafes. Afterwards a group of some
100 fans headed towards the building of the Yugoslav embassy.
Despite reinforced police units, they managed to break four windows
and terrace door as well as to damage the building's facade. Seven
policemen were hurt while trying to prevent rowdy fans. Two of them
were hospitalised in Vukovar hospital.
