ZAGREB, Jan 28 (Hina) - The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) Presidency on Friday afternoon commenced a session to discuss preparations for intra-party elections and activities on drafting a new programme and statute of this political
party. Present at the session was Mate Granic, an HDZ vice-president, who had gone out of all party bodies and remained the party's member at grass-roots levels ahead of the recent presidential election in Croatia. Explaining why he returned to the Presidency this afternoon, Granic said he wanted to struggle for a new programme and statute of the HDZ, including new staff solutions. Another reason was the attendance of heads of HDZ county committees at this session as well as the fact that party elections were announced. "I want to take active part in that process and I would like to see myself in a modern European popular party," Granic said.(hina) ms
