ZAGREB, Feb 17 (Hina) - The Croatian Government on Thursday did not
pass a decision which prohibits indefinitely the employing of lower
and senior-grade civil servants in state administrations and
public services on the state budget, but it sent the decision back
for revision.
The decision envisaged the prohibition of the new employing in the
state administration and public services until the passing of
regulations and a rule book on interior organisation which would
include an approximate number of necessary employees.
Croatian Prime Minister Ivica Racan said that the duty of
ministries and the Government was not only to prevent the elements
of the increase of a number of lower and senior-grade civil
servants, but also to decrease it. "The Government is obliged to
rationalise the state administration ensuring a smaller number of
lower and senior-grade civil servants and work more efficient
work", Racan stressed.
Ministers criticised the equating of this prohibition and the
employing in public services.
