ZAGREB, Feb 11 (Hina) - Croatia will request the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague to extend the deadline for its submitting a written explanation of its genocide suit filed against Belgrade, Croatian Justice Minister
Stjepan Ivanisevic said in Zagreb on Friday. "We will request a postponement (of the deadline) for the drawing up of the memorial," Ivanisevic told reporters when asked about the fate of the Croatian suit against Yugoslavia. The ICJ set March 14 of 2000 as the deadline for Croatia to submit an explanation of its suit against Yugoslavia. In July last year, Croaia filed a suit against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, accusing it of violating the Convention on Genocide in the period between 1991 and 1995. The Belgrade authorities were accused of ethnic cleansing in the areas of Knin, eastern and western Slavonia and Dalmatia as well as of destruction. Croatian authorities also

In July last year, Croaia filed a suit against the Federal Republic
of Yugoslavia, accusing it of violating the Convention on Genocide
in the period between 1991 and 1995.
The Belgrade authorities were accused of ethnic cleansing in the
areas of Knin, eastern and western Slavonia and Dalmatia as well as
of destruction. Croatian authorities also requested that the ICJ
determine war damages Belgrade should pay to Croatia.
Asked whether the Government would support the suit filed by the
former authorities, Ivanisevic said "For now, yes."
